Quick Bio

The Undertaker is an American professional wrestler signed to WWE. He is the company's most tenured performer, and he's also the only remaining active competitor from the very first episode of WWE Raw in 1993. Calaway began his wrestling career with World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) in 1984. In 1990, Calaway signed with the World Wrestling Federation and The Undertaker was born. The rest, as they say, was history!

Steve Austin On Which WrestleMania Match Should Go On Last

As for what match should close the show at WrestleMania 32, Austin stated that the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match featuring Triple H and Roman Reigns should go on last, despite the high stakes involved in the Shane McMahon versus Undertaker Hell In A Cell match.

“The world heavyweight title is everything. It’s really a flip of the coin and I don’t know how they feel about each match. I know they’re both very important, especially [for] the future of the company. I don’t know how long Shane’s going to be around. If indeed this is a long term investment, is there a work in progress? Is there a brand split?” Austin continued, “I would dare say, I think you go world heavyweight title and that’s your main event. At the end of the show, it’s Triple H versus Roman Reigns.”

In Austin’s view, there should be a buffer match between the Triple H versus Reigns match and the Hell In A Cell match with McMahon and Undertaker because Hell In A Cell matches are difficult to follow.

“Dude, when you’re slotted to follow one of those motherf–kers, you’re in for a rough day at the office. Me and Kane tried to follow one. I think it was Philly. Whatever it was, but Mankind and Taker. I think they were in the semi main [event] and we came on right after that. There may have been a match in between. I don’t remember. But my point is, those guys just destroyed the f–king place. It was like a ten-star match with [Mankind] doing the famous bumps off the announce table, through the roof, one of them accidentally through the roof of the cage. But it was their night. They stole the show. Me and Kane went out there and worked our asses off and tried to make chicken salad out of chicken s–t. And I loved working with Kane and it was a damn good match, but we couldn’t follow it. So can [Triple H and Reigns] follow that kind of match? I don’t know. I was over as a motherf–ker and we couldn’t follow it. Kane was over too.”

I agree and I’m sure because he is old school, professional and he respects what the World Title stands for, Taker would want the World Title match to close WM and probably any other event for that matter. Reigns vs HHH also had the biggest build that began at the end of TLC with the beating Reigns gave HHH, but really ignited at The Rumble.

I agree with Austin that there should be a match or something in between Taker/Shane and Reigns/HHH. He brought up a good example. KOTR 98, they went from Taker/Mankind straight to Austin/Kane. Like he said, Austin and Kane as always worked hard, but couldn’t follow Taker/Mankind. Another example is Taker vs HBK from WM25. The crowd was so out of it after that, they didn’t care for whatever followed. Then again it depends on what WWE’s plan is for Taker vs Shane and who knows what that is. Fans are usually drained from a Taker match at WM so it’s tough for anyone to follow him. An in between gives the fans a chance to recharge so they’re ready for the next big match.
