Quick Bio

The Undertaker is an American professional wrestler signed to WWE. He is the company's most tenured performer, and he's also the only remaining active competitor from the very first episode of WWE Raw in 1993. Calaway began his wrestling career with World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) in 1984. In 1990, Calaway signed with the World Wrestling Federation and The Undertaker was born. The rest, as they say, was history!

Jim Ross On If Talent Should Be Resentful About Shane McMahon Getting High Profile WrestleMania Spot

The latest Pro Wrestling Illustrated Podcast features an interview with WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross who was promoting several new projects, including being the new play-by-play announcer for New Japan Pro Wrestling on AXS TV. During the course of the interview, PWI Senior Writer Al Castle asked JR about his thoughts on the upcoming Shane McMahon vs. Undertaker bout at WrestleMania.

“I believe . . . knowing the two participants as well as I do, and I know both of them very well, that they will do everything within their power to have an extraordinary match based on both their individual skill sets and their strengths and their weaknesses. So I have no issues with Shane McMahon coming out of the woodwork,” Ross said.

“I can tell you I was in Las Vegas for the press conference for my fight the week that Shane McMahon came back to television. The day after, as a matter of fact, (I was) in the Oklahoma City Airport, where I rarely get stopped and asked wrestling questions anymore because I’m there so damn much. And all kinds of acquaintances and airport staff were asking me about Shane McMahon. In Vegas it was the same story . . . So a lot of people are talking about it. And obviously when you have a lot of people talking about something they’re not all going to like it. I get it and I don’t have a problem with people expressing themselves and their opinions. But when people are so adamant that they know without a shadow of a doubt that this is bad booking, I sometimes am embarrassed for them.”

Ross was also asked about whether WWE wrestlers would be justified in feeling resentful that Shane was chosen to take the prestigious spot of The Undertaker’s WrestleMania opponent.

“It’s not really logical,” Ross stated. “It’s not the first time and it’s not the last time that people are getting passed over. I found out this: wrestlers that have complained regularly, loudly–discreetly loud–about their spot being taken by a non-regular normally didn’t work hard enough or smart enough during the year to keep their spot. I heard that same thing. What do you think would happen in Bill Watts’ territory when he would bring in Andre the Giant to work the Super Dome or Dusty Rhodes or Tommy Rich or the NWA champion? You’d get the same thing: the guys in the locker room b—hing and moaning that somebody was coming in and taking their pay off … At least these guys who are on the roster are getting a weekly check, so they’re still going to get paid for their efforts or non-efforts at WrestleMania. Is it the ideal scenario? No. The cure is to make yourself indispensable and invaluable for the next one.”

JR, as usual, is having making points here

    • Taker's # 1 fan on March 28th, 2016 says:

Undertaker fans – I have a serious request to make to each and every one of you.

First the WWE crushed us by letting Undertaker’s Streak getting broken. Seeing that video and the Undertaker getting up after that loss gives us the jitters, and every second of it is painful as hell. The greatest, most perfect record and most revered thing in the history of the WWE broken by a part-timer who will never become as a big a legend as Taker is in this business. But HHH himself couldn’t lose to Lesnar at WM?

Then they let Lesnar and Heyman come and brag about it on TV and we had to watch a continuation of the feud which again led to Taker losing. On the other hand, everyone else seems to give good competition to Lesnar.

Then we have to see Taker facing a non-wrestler Shane McMahon at WM? After names like Michaels, HHH, Punk and Lesnar, Taker is now made to face Shane? Would this have happened if the Streak was intact? NO. Its a straight disrespect to the Streak ending, that Taker’s matches at WM are worthless now. And HHH is himself in a title match – what does that say about handling of main event talent of the era? I mean what has the WWE come to?

Please BOYCOTT WRESTLEMANIA – DON’T WATCH IT. Its the only way they will learn that ending Taker’s streak was a bad business. Please show respect for Taker and let the WWE know of their mistake. They will learn it the hard way that ending the Streak was and remains the most stupid-a** decision they ever made.
