He is the company's most tenured performer, and he's also the only remaining active competitor from the very first episode of WWE Raw in 1993. Calaway began his wrestling career with World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) in 1984. In 1990, Calaway signed with the World Wrestling Federation and The Undertaker was born. The rest, as they say, was history!

Taker vs Shane To Close WM?

There’s been a lot of back and forth over which match will close WrestleMania 32 on Sunday in Dallas.

The current plan, as of yesterday and this could change, has the Hell In a Cell match with Shane McMahon and The Undertaker closing the show, according to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio.

Many thought the WWE World Heavyweight Title match with Roman Reigns and Triple H would close the show because of Stephanie McMahon’s RAW promo but that’s not the current plan.

We noted before that the current plan is for Shane McMahon vs. The Undertaker inside Hell In a Cell to close Sunday’s WWE WrestleMania 32 pay-per-view. F4Wonline.com reports that a major stunt was being worked on and practice yesterday afternoon. Speculation is that this could be for that match.

While I believe being the old school and professional as he is, Taker would want the World Title match to close the show, the HIAC would be just as fitting a closer. It may hint at the result of the match, but would still be unpredictable. On one hand, WM’s in Texas. Taker’s in a high profile unpredictable match at WM. Either WWE wants Taker closing WM for what could be his last match or want to send the fans homw happy by having their home state Deadman close out the show on a win.

Take it though as a rumor because even if it’s true that it’s the current plan, plans can change. WWE often changes their plans a billion times before the show airs and even during the show before it ends. However, HIAC closing WM would not be the first WM where the World Title match did not close WM. WM8 closed with Hogan vs Sid while the Savage/Flair World Title match was somewhere in the middle. If I remember correctly, WM11 closed with LT vs Bam Bam Bigelow. WM26 closed with Taker vs HBK II which served to (so far) be HBK’s last match.

Whatever happens or even if this is Taker’s last match, taker must win the damn match!!!

    • Anan on April 3rd, 2016 says:

Well whether it’s his last match or not is Taker’s decision. Taker should have control over his career from here on out as he has earned and is deserving of that. But Vince still wants control over him and everyone else. IMO, if Taker won, it won’t be his last, but if he loses, it may or may not be his last.

I heard that supposedly WWE confirmed that Hell In A Cell was closing the show. I know this is heavily rumored but that would be great if it did. If Shane did win he can still overturn the stip Vince made for The Undertaker for future Wrestlemanias.

    • Anan on April 3rd, 2016 says:

Good point in saying if Shane won, he could change Vince’s stip and have Taker compete. But if Taker already gave his notice to WWE so to speak, then Shane will not. Then again, after how Taker spoke to Shane, Shane may not bother to change the stip at all. Taker called Shane rich boy and stated he’s been his daddy’s bitch since he was born. Shane may have gotten some bit of revenge by the elbow drop through a table. But compared to actually defeating Taker which would take a miracle, the elbow drop means nothing.

Would it be good if HIAC closed WM? I’m 50/50. On one hand, Taker deserves to close a Texas WM, especially if it is indeed his last match. And that’s a big unconfirmed IF.

On the other hand, it’d devalue the World Title even more if it doesn’t close out the biggest show. Traditionally and usually, it does close WM. And this year, the World Title match includes the RR winner, HHH against the man who earned the #1 contender status by winning a 3-Way that included Ambrose & Lesnar, Roman Reigns and WWE’s invested in Reigns so how would it look if their investment didn’t close the biggest show? Taker, I believe would want the World Title to close WM. He’s old school. He’s professional. He respects the old school values, meaning and prestige of the World Title.

    • Shehzad on April 3rd, 2016 says:

WWE title will not devalue if it does not close the show, even in WM28 John Cena & The Rock closed the show with their “Once in a lifetime Match” while the WWE title was the second last match.
I think HIAC will add extra bit of taste if it closes the show in Texas!

    • BamBam on April 3rd, 2016 says:

IF shane somehow wins the match(he shouldnt) i think this should be the undertaker last match> If taker couldnt even beat shane like cena says he should step aside. And of course the embarasment that comes along. Can you imagine how they would pointed out that shane beat taker at wm for years to come ? Doesnt matter if he won it clean, with interference or not.It could be remembered for years and years.SHould that happen i would never want/desire to see an undertaker match again.Plus if taker calls it quits the next night, that would greatly help me move away from wrestling completely. Its been a great 15 years. Its a roller coaster ride but this past few years seems like a downward spiral.End the joy/torment? I discovered this site about 2008/2009/2010? Ohh man

    • Mike on April 4th, 2016 says:

Taker’s match isn’t closing the show. I’m still loving it. The WWE delivered the goods tonight.
