The Undertaker is an American professional wrestler signed to WWE. He is the company's most tenured performer, and he's also the only remaining active competitor from the very first episode of WWE Raw in 1993. Calaway began his wrestling career with World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) in 1984. In 1990, Calaway signed with the World Wrestling Federation and The Undertaker was born. The rest, as they say, was history!

Smackdown Results | November 15th, 2016
WWE Hall of Famer Edge returned to host his always memorable talk show “The Cutting Edge” on the 900th episode of SmackDown LIVE, and boy, did it not disappoint. The cornerstone of SmackDown LIVE was in rare form and the WWE Universe could not have been more excited to see The Rated-R Superstar.
This particular episode of “The Cutting Edge” had a little bit of everything — an attempted 5-second pose with Edge and Team SmackDown LIVE mascot James Ellsworth, Edge questioning his former partner Randy Orton, and Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles almost got into it … but then, GONG!
The arena went dark during “The Cutting Edge” and to the ring came the legendary Undertaker. He stared down all those on Team SmackDown LIVE, including (and especially) Shane McMahon, his WrestleMania 32 opponent. The Undertaker first pronounced that there was no better choice for a Commissioner of SmackDown LIVE than McMahon. He then claimed that he was back, “taking souls and digging holes.”
The Deadman then forewarned the entire team that SmackDown LIVE had always been his home and that if Team Blue failed at Survivor Series then the fear of failure would not be their chief concern, but, instead, they should then be fearing the wrath of The Phenom.
Will Team Raw rest in peace? Find out this Sunday at Survivor Series only on WWE Network!

John I would love to see Taker wear that championship one more time, but i don’t think that is going to happen. I loved Taker segment on SD and I can’t wait to see what happens next. Most of all I want to know if Taker is doing more matches than just a couple in a year. “I’m back, taking souls and digging holes!”
- Thy Serpent on November 17th, 2016 says:
While it was good to see ‘Taker back, I was a bit underwhelmed. Maybe he did not kick some butt as he was recovering from the surgery he had. I feel his character is getting a bit more human. But that’s ok. Glad he’s back and hope he is in good shape so that we can see more of him. ‘Taker saying that he was back taking souls and digging holes could hint at more than one match in the future. There have been a couple of sites stating a possible Orton vs ‘Taker at WM33. That would be good since both will be able to build up the match quite well and give us a good one too. My guess for his WM 33 opponent is still John Cena. The other possibility I see is team Smackdown losing @ Survivor series and ‘Taker starting a feud for the one he feels responsible either from team Smackdown or RAW. This could lead up to a match either at WM33 or if his health permits, one before that.

Some good comments here that I wanna reply to. Before I do that though….
Just an opinion/thought. But don’t think Taker’s return being the SD go-home show for SSeries is a coincidence. Yes the go home show was the 900th episode. But Taker’s missed anniversary shows before. RAW Season Premiere in 2015, I think he missed that and that was before the draft, but during the build to Taker/Lesnar’s HIAC match. There was a RAW Anniversary Special in Jan of 2015 or 2014 that I believe took place from Houston, TX which caused speculation he’d be there, but he wasn’t. WWE can say SD is Taker’s home to promote his return to SD. But he’s been on RAW longer as RAW’s been around since 93 while SD’s been existence in 99. All this said I think we may see Taker at SSeries. It’s his anniversary show, he was there last year and on SD, stated WM would no longer define him which is storyline lingo to explain he won’t be just a WM talent anymore. However it must be clear that him not being a WM only talent anymore does not mean he’s a full-time talent either. I think Taker’s days as a full-time talent are over. And hell if Lesnar can have the part time schedule he has and if Cena can have a part time schedule which he seemingly now has then surely Taker’s more than entitled to one of his own because neither Cena or Lesnar worked as long as Taker has (though Cena’s closer at over 14 yrs by now.)
If Taker is at SSeries, what will he do? Nothing against Elsworth. I get he’s over and for organic reasons. But he hasn’t been in WWE long enough to be part of Team SD vs Team RAW in any capacity. He’s only there because WWE’s capitalizing on his popularity. WHy he’s not in the match is bc if he was, he wouldn’t last too long, be eliminated quick which would cause him to be a waste on Team SD along with hurting his momentum which may hurt or increase his popularity.
IMO Shane does not need to be on the team and should not have been. I would have preferred if Taker’s return, promo included had him stating he’s the 5th and final man on the team. It’d allow him to compete at his anniversary show while being on a team which lighten up his work. But I get he just recovered from surgery. My guess is him being on the team was the original idea but bc of surgery, Shane was Plan B. Kane has a long history on SD himself by the way. I wouldn’t have minded one bit of he was on Team SD instead of Shane.
Now to reply to some of the above comments….
@Becky: Yeah this was a gr8 segment 4 sure. Taker made it better but I liked it even before it came out.
@john peeler and Dead Man of Lapland: Don’t see anymore titles for Taker bc he doesn’t need them. If Taker gets a title shot, I suspect he’ll lose the match. AJ will go over to keep his momentum and push. He’s full time, Taker is not. I think Taker’s full time days are over. If Taker vs AJ does happen, I think it’s either at the 2017 RR, a live event, or some other PPV, maybe a TV match.
@eric: One of Taker’s best lines! The Jericho thing….I’m sure you’ve heard some of Jericho’s podcasts, I’m sure you’e seen, heard, read some of his interviews so I suspect you know Jericho respects Taker. Calling Taker a stupid idiot on Twitter was done in character. It could lead to something. A PPV match, a live event match, a TV match. Prior to a one on one Taker vs Jericho match though, I wanna see Taker/Kane vs Jericho/KO.
@Thy Serpent: You & I may not always agree and that’s fine. But I love & appreciate your insightful analyzations nonetheless. Clearly some thought goes into your comments before they’re actually posted 🙂
Gonna dissect yours piece by piece so each piece gets its own focus.
Idk y u felt underwhelmed. 4 me, it wasn’t feeling underwhelmed. It was more…..unexpected. Didn’t expect Deadman Taker to come out a cut a promo in support of Team SD. AFter all this is the same team, albeit different team members aside from Orton, who Taker chokeslammed back in 2005 while he was a part of that brand after they defeated Team RAW, to continue his feud with Orton.
I feel surgery played a big crucial part in how Taker’s return was played out. Just speculation here. But I think he was the original plan for Team SD. But surgery and recovery changed that and Shane ended up on the team though I don’t see why Kane wasn’t on it as he like Taker has a long history on SD.
Taker’s character’s been slowly becoming more humanized….its part of evolving The Deadman without going full on ABA….since WM26 when Taker shook the hand of and embraced HBK in the middle of the ring after retiring him. The humanization was taken further when despite winning, he didn’t walk out of WM27. The at WM28, he and HBK helped HHH to the back with the 3 of them embracing on the stage before walking to the back. Paul Bearer’s real life passing humanized the Taker character more…..Taker appeared first time on camera at the HOF, saluting Paul with the Urn in his hand….then emotionally saluted The Urn in memory of Paul after defeating Punk at WM29. The humanization went even further when The Streak ended. Since then, every night, every time we’ve seen Taker, he’s been slightly more and more humanized. But I don’t really mind it. It is what it is. At this point, I’ll take any Taker than no Taker at all. I never cared how Taker looked. To me, Taker’s always Taker regardless of appearance. Yet some made a big ass deal about his hair LOL!!!
Taker’s line may have hinted at us seeing more of him. How much more and in what capacity remains to be seen. I think his full time days are over. He worked more dates in 2015 which included multiple TV’s, multiple PPV’s, which meant multiple matches. He worked 4 PPV matches that year. Depending on his health and possibly his outside wrestling life including his family and projects, I suspect we may get 4-5 PPV matches including the most obvious one, being WM33. Idk about live events. He doesn’t normally do those anymore though certain exceptions are made. If they go outside the US, for example, the Mexico shows he did where he teamed with Kane. They won’t put him there for the sake of putting him there as good enough reason as that may be. If they wanna boost ticket sales in a certain area, they may have him on. If they find the right, safe opponent, or get him in a tag team to lighten up his work….those are other factors I suspect too.
WM33….yeah I still say it’s Taker vs Cena. Times running out on that as Taker’s not too far off from retirement and Cena’s on a part time schedule now and with over 14 years in WWE, he’s not very far himself from retirement either and his injuries and early returns in the long run are bringing his retirement probably closer. Plus it was supposed to happen at WM32. I already spoke of the possible Taker vs AJ Styles and Taker vs Jericho matches when replying to their people’s comments above. As for Orton, I really hope this Wyatt angle ends prior to WM because I oon’t wanna see another Kane vs Orton or another Orton vs Bray Wyatt match there. Orton vs AJ is fresh, never happened yet to my knowledge, good for WM.

Hey Everyone, Tonight in the main event at Survivor Series had Brock Lesnar facing Goldberg and I tell you what, the match didn’t even last two to three minutes I believe and Goldberg dominated Brock Lesnar and beat him cleanly. That was a quick main event at Survivor Series I can tell you that. Finally Brock Lesnar has come down to earth after being the dominant guy for a long long time. Finally somebody beaten him cleanly and that guy was Goldberg. Goldberg is 2-0 vs Brock Lesnar now. The first time was Wrestlemania 20 in 2004 and now at Survivor Series 2016. Anyway, we didn’t see the Undertaker Tonight which I thought he would show at Survivor Series since that was his first match at the Survivor Series PPV in 1990 but Team Smackdown won so, I guess he didn’t need to show up at all. We will see when the next time the Undertaker shows up.
- Mark Petrick on November 21st, 2016 says:
To Big B:
You’re right Big B about it is always good to see him on TV. And yes, Goldberg demolished Lesnar in under two minutes and that was nuts. I think we will see Undertaker sooner then later, it is just a matter of when.
- Thy Serpent on November 21st, 2016 says:
I agree. Here’s a guy who’s beaten the streak, dominated John Cena, remains unpinned since, what WM29? And then he gets beaten by a person who hasn’t wrestled for years in a squash match?
- Thy Serpent on November 21st, 2016 says:
@Anan. Thanks for your comments :). I agree with you that Kane would have been a better option than Shane. As for ‘Taker being a part of the SD team. Maybe. I’d like to add, it would have been good if ‘Taker had to come out and announce himself as the 5th member. Had this been done without announcing the return of the Deadman, it would have been even better. But, I guess his health didn’t permit him.
- Anan on November 21st, 2016 says:
@Thy Serpent: Right yeah I think Taker was Plan A for the 5th member of Team SD, but feel Shane was substituted as a result of Taker’s health not allowing it. I guess somewhat of a fair argument could also be made that Taker being on Team SD would not fit his character. I partially agree. Brand supremacy is a cause and as JBL pointed out on commentary in 2006-2007, Taker does not (usually) fight for causes, but does so for the sake of destruction. However 1990, 1995, 2001, 2015 saw Taker compete as part of a team at SSeries. 1990 was his debut. 2015, he teamed with Kane to face two members ofThe Wyatt Fam. 1995, long before the ABA, he captained a team upon returning from injury with the phantom mask and in 2001, as the ABA, he led Team WWF against The Alliance.
Goldberg vs Lesnar…..reportedly WWE had Goldberg go over via squash to establish him as the dominant squasher he was in WCW. Not saying the report’s true. But this match was made essentially bc of 2K17. The tagline for the match proves that. 2K17 had WCW Goldberg and two WCW arenas, Nitro and Halloween Havoc 98. Reports also say Goldberg’s agreed to work the 2017 RR. I see Goldberg vs Lesnar III, either at the RR unless one or both of them enter the RR match itself bc Goldberg can’t have two matches at one night at his age, or WM33. And I think like AUstin vs Rock, 3rd times the charm for Lesnar as he’ll defeat Goldberg in the 3rd match like ROck defeated AUstin in their third match (at WM19 in 2003.)
What I don’t like about it though is as Thy Serpent pointed out, Lesnar’s been unpinned since whenever, breaks The Streak, manhandles Cena, then FINALLY loses clean and on top of that SQUASHED in less than a minute to a guy, Goldberg who barely has any future as a wrestler? I mean I’d have been fine with this had it been someone like Samoa Joe, KO, Nakamura, someone with more of an in ring future than Goldberg.

Goldberg Vs. The Undertaker To Happen Next?
What’s Next For Goldberg?
WWE WrestleMania 33 was supposed to be the last time Goldberg stepped into the ring for a fight. Prior to the event, the fight with Lesnar was supposed to be a one-time deal. However, there are reports indicating that Goldberg will be in the 2017 Royal Rumble in San Antonio as part of the Rumble main event. As of now, there’s no word if he will be in any future events in WrestleMania 33.
A rematch between Lesnar and Goldberg remains to be a big possibility although fans are not too excited after their last fight. One possible opponent for Goldberg is The Undertaker whose return to WWE sparked much excitement. Since Lesnar was the one who broke The Undertaker’s winning streak, a match between Goldberg and The Undertaker who both made a comeback in WWE Wrestlemania 33 would be worth paying for.

@ deadman07 and gang
Probably you may know i still favor the undertaker vs brock lesnar, well i will not put this match in dust until the undertaker quits, yes i read the article but my prediction says at wrestlemania 33 it will be goldberg vs triple h,i think the undertaker will face aj styles or braun strawman, what happens to john cena probably will look for title shot,so what happens to brock he will face shane mcmahon or shane chooses mercenary outsider kurt angle or who knows the undertaker in that case aj styles and strowman will be in some other matches
- Rainer on November 25th, 2016 says:
Don’t believe it even when you see it. Until we have news from the dirt sheets and speculations, treat his physical appearance at smackdown as a RUMOR, as this site likes to put it. Never beleive hes really back. The fantasy of what will happen with him will now be better than what wwe actually produces. Trollolz
- The Last Outlaw on November 26th, 2016 says:
@Rainer With all due respect, he said himself that he was back. Sure, we know it’s not a full time run. It’s most likely going to be like his Part time 2015 run where he performed at four PPV Events that year. So, we’re going to see him on a part time basis, but regardless, I’m happy. The fact that we get to see him at all is great.
- Yousif on November 26th, 2016 says:
Goldberg winning in 2 minutes is an insult to the wwr superstars and specially to the undertaker!
They guy who dominated all and broke the steak and won the battle against the undertakers lost and goldberg made him look pathetic
I hope to see rematch as soon as possible . And brock wins in same or better way more so previous things can be explained.
I still want to see taker vs Brock BUT now i prefer to this after brock vs goldberg 3 ..!!
Taker said wrestlemania will not define him ..
I see it as an indicator that he is going to wrestle some matches before and may be win the tilte too ..but he is going to loose at WM probably against Cena this time
- eric on November 27th, 2016 says:
if Undertaker has a few matches before WM33,I hope its a program with The Wyatts…I think it would be fun to watch. If WWE has Cena go for his 16th title at WM33,then you could wrap up the Taker/Wyatt angle with Taker v Randy Orton.
I’d also love to see Undertaker v Chris Jericho…that would be a fun match to watch.
We’ll have to see…but it does sound like Undertaker may compete before WM33…and I hope its v The Wyatts or Y2J.
