He is the company's most tenured performer, and he's also the only remaining active competitor from the very first episode of WWE Raw in 1993. Calaway began his wrestling career with World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) in 1984. In 1990, Calaway signed with the World Wrestling Federation and The Undertaker was born. The rest, as they say, was history!

Major WrestleMania 33 Match No Longer In The Works

John Cena vs. The Undertaker is no longer in the works for WrestleMania 33, according to a new report by The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The match was nixed after Vince McMahon changed his mind.

There’s been speculation on The Undertaker challenging for a title at WrestleMania but as of this week, he is not scheduled to challenge for the WWE Title or the WWE Universal Title. There’s also been speculation on Taker vs. Braun Strowman but that match is not in the works, at least as of this week.

Cena….so Vince wanted it last year, couldn’t have it bc Cena was injured. This year, he can have it and chooses to change in mind and not have it.

Strowman….oh God no. Fan backlash cancelled this last year so if this is the plan, I suspect the same backlash. However unlike last year, they are seriously building him up now and WWE usually saves Taker for these types. Kamala, Gonzalez, Khali, Taker had long feuds with all of them. And we know Vince is such a byproduct of his own era that he repeats history in many forms so…..

Of course, could just be the typical Meltzer rumor that doesn’t turn out to be true so take with a grain of salt as the old saying goes.

I can see Cena going for 16th Title, probably v Styles or maybe Roman Reigns….as for what or who that leaves for The Deadman….why not Chris Jericho???….or Dean Ambrose???.
Kevin Owens…..I’m ancious to see how they do this…maybe I’m to much of a Taker fan but I don’t think a match v Strowman would be bad……BUT it ain’t The Phenom v Y2J.

      I hope brock again
Or greatest triple match of all time
      Goldberg vs Brock vs taker.
To do that . They can build up something in royal rumble between taker and goldberg..

    • dhanish1979 on January 14th, 2017 says:

I heard that too but my fingers is still itches for the undertaker vs brock lesnar and triple h will screw up goldberg at RR,that leaves what about seth,i think he will go one on one against strowman.
To be honest i am anxious to see kevin owens vs chris jericho at WM 33,friendship is getting on my nerves.Hope KO gets listed
@yousif:did we expect sting to lose at wm?triple h is known for burying wcw,i think this is validate

    • Draugr on January 16th, 2017 says:

F**king lame. F**k you, Vince. Especially if it ends up being Strowman. McMahon must be f**king senile if he thinks we want to watch this garbage.

    • Phenom0666 on January 17th, 2017 says:

I seriously hope its true….Cena does NOT deserve victory over ‘Taker let alone a WM match with him, that 5/6 moves of doom c*nt should be no where near Flairs record either but with The Mcmahons and Trips not needing toilet paper for so many years due to Cena lickin’ ’em clean , Cena has managed to get 15 completely undeserving World Titles the most should’ve been like 5…. he has held back so many guys from having the top spot that to give him Flairs record and a victory over ‘Taker at WM to boot is something that just cannot happen.’So many FAR BETTER guys have less than 10…Cena has always needed a title to be relevant because he cant put on a good in-ring performance…NON of his WM matches have EVER come close to match of the year level…THANK YOU Vince for seeing sense hopefully, though Flairs record sadly might well end up with Cena *sigh*

Okay RANT OVER lol ..okay one more thing No strowman give us ‘Taker vs Y2J

    • Speed Demon on January 20th, 2017 says:

They’re considering Strauman vs Taker? Hell no! I’m sorry, Strauman is physically impressive, but he doesn’t have what it takes to be put in a match with someone of Taker’s caliber. He needs to be considered a serious player before he does that.

Like Phenom0666 said, I’d prefer Taker vs Y2J. Or Taker vs Goldberg, those two have yet to face each other. Can you imagine the buildup?

    • Thomas on January 22nd, 2017 says:

I’d say yes to this, but only if Taker could fight at least a couple of PPVs this year and not at WM. Wrestlemania should have the greatest matches possible, so I would go with something really great; for example Styles, Goldberg or even Angle (if that’s possible; and it should’ve happened years ago at WM 22 instead of Henry). Wrestlemania season is (or should be) special. And we’re talking not only about the match but also segments leading to that. Imagine how awesome they can be if Taker would go against Goldberg. Or returning Angle. Taker can work with giants but he’s so much better against powerhouses (like Batista) or smaller guys (like Shawn Michaels or Kurt Angle). His greatest matches IMO were against these guys and not (with all due respect) against Big Shows or Great Khalis of this business. So that’s why I’m too against Taket vs Strowman at Wrestlemania. At other PPV? Why not. But still, there’s plenty of other, better options.

    • dhanish1979 on January 26th, 2017 says:

The WrestleMania lineup as of this writing is looking like:

      Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar
      Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns
      Triple H vs. Seth Rollins
      Chris Jericho vs. Kevin Owens
      Bray Waytt vs. Randy Orton
      Big Show vs. Shaquille O’Neal
Charlotte vs. Bayley vs. Sasha Banks vs. Nia Jax
      – John Cena vs. Samoa Joe at WrestleMania was an idea that was pitched internally, but has not been confirmed in any way. There’s also been rumors of AJ Styles taking on Shane McMahon.
