The Undertaker is an American professional wrestler signed to WWE. He is the company's most tenured performer, and he's also the only remaining active competitor from the very first episode of WWE Raw in 1993. Calaway began his wrestling career with World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) in 1984. In 1990, Calaway signed with the World Wrestling Federation and The Undertaker was born. The rest, as they say, was history!

Taker vs. Reigns WM 33 Creative Plans For Now
As noted, Roman Reigns vs The Undertaker is expected to be one of the main events at WrestleMania 33, and the seeds for the match were planted at Royal Rumble. Reigns eliminated Undertaker in the Rumble match, but beyond that, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting the idea of Undertaker “passing the torch to Reigns” at WrestleMania has been discussed.
Despite the fact that Reigns will likely be booed out of the building the night of WrestleMania 33 in Orlando, Vince McMahon has been wanting to do Roman Reigns vs The Undertaker for awhile now, and with ‘Taker’s health and future in question, ‘Mania 33 might be the last big chance Vince has to book the match. As noted, Undertaker was said to be really hurting after the Royal Rumble match, and despite having hip surgery back in 2016, he eventually needs complete hip replacement surgery, which he has been putting off until after her retires.
With regards to Undertaker passing the torch to Reigns, that might be difficult given the crowd reaction Reigns will likely get in Orlando, but it could also be the start of an official heel run for Reigns. It’s being said, however, that even if Reigns turns heel in the near future, the longterm goal in WWE is for him to become the face of the company.

I don’t think it will make ‘Taker look bad at all. First off, it’s still all speculation as to who Undertaker will face at the show of shows. Secondly, Undertaker has cemented his legacy as quite possibly the greatest superstar in WWF/E history. His list of accomplishments and what he has done for the company, he will have his own wing in the Hall of Fame. Lastly HHH said himself in the interview with JBL, Shawn Michaels and Steve Austin that ‘Taker is probably the only man in the company at this point in time that has the absolute right to retire how he himself sees fit. If in the end its ‘Takers idea to pass the torch to Roman Reigns and then ride off into the sunset, that’s his choice to make on his own. It’s not our place to think about what could or could not be good for WWE and it’s not our place to predict how ‘Taker will retire.

when i said he will look bad ,, i mean for the current situation only ,
and i dont believe he will retire this year
- Mike B. on February 5th, 2017 says:
I don’t think so because even if ‘Taker is hindered physically because of recent surgery/surgeries, whatever the case may be, ‘Taker is at the stage of his career where he doesn’t need another victory at WrestleMania to cement his legacy. He’s the last of the true old school class where the proverbial passing of the torch comes with a loss. I don’t personally think he will retire this year either, but whenever he decides to retire, it will be on his way, on his terms and not up to us to predict. He is a guaranteed first ballot WWE Hall of Fame inductee who will literally have his own wing.

The End of the streak to hype Lesnar was the biggest fault Vince could make.
It took all the power away of Taker passing the torch…
Ending the streak should ve been the torchpassing and retirement of Taker…
Vince didn´t measure up to Takers loyality with his decission, so now it doesn´t matter how many Mania matches he will lose until he retires…
Will he lose to Reigns this year, maybe next year to Cena, then Orton or the next next big thing…
no impact to wwe anymore, no sense for Takers last run…
He should beat Reigns and then announce his retirement imo, but Vince will continue his stuff i´m afraid
- Mike B. on February 5th, 2017 says:
The streak being ‘Takers passing of the torch then retiring, maybe so but what happened to hype up Lesnar’s build up happened. Was it McMahon’s best decision, no but he is the boss and ‘Taker is all about doing what he can for the company he has been loyal to for over 26 years now. ‘Taker has so much respect from everyone in the company that however he sees fit to pass the torch, it will happen. Remember, it was talked about that he wanted the streak to “End” against Randy Orton all the way back at WrestleMania 21. I see him retiring in such a way that he ultimately has control of, even over McMahon. Like I said in the previous comment, HHH even said himself in the interview with JBL, Shawn Michaels and Stone Cold Steve Austin that when ‘taker decides he is going to hang up his boots, it will be how he wants it to happens because he has earned that respect.

I agree with @christian
- Thy Serpent on February 6th, 2017 says:
I kinda agree with Christian. But, I think Vince ended the streak because he wasn’t sure if The Undertaker would be able to compete in another match, leave alone Wrestlemania. The Undertaker vs Reigns should be a good match if it happens. Reigns once again is being given a push I guess. So, I will not be surprised if he beats The Undertaker. Besides, ‘Taker saying that he will no longer be defined by Wrestlemania might have been a way of hinting that he may lose at WM again. I personally feel that he shouldn’t be beaten at WM again. Reason being, it takes away the specialty of what Brock did. Besides, the next best thing after a 0 loss record is a solitary loss.

First, Vince McMahon having LegoHead be the one to end The Streak was one of the stupidest decisions he’s ever made, and somehow I think he realized it too late about 60 seconds after that match ended. Second, Taker, his career, and what he’s accomplished goes so far beyond Wrestlemania. He said himself that he’s not gonna let WM define him or his career any longer, and that’s the way it should be. If Taker decides that he’s gonna put Roman over, then that’s HIS decision, not anyone else’s. And the people that are “booing” Roman, they don’t even a good, common sense reason to not like him, they do it because they think it’s “cool” not because Roman can’t wrestle, work the mic, do promos, help those that are now coming on the Main Roster–Um, Samoa Joe tonight, Strowman (Can you say BORING for this line)–So, it’s not gonna matter if Roman has a match against the most hated person in the WWE, there’s always gonna be the dingy people out there who are gonna wish real physical harm to Roman so they won’t have to look at him…I guess they haven’t realized they just don’t have to watch him on TV or at a house show, that would mean they would have to have common sense. But if Taker wants to face Roman in the parking lot of Denny’s next week, that’s Taker’s decision, just like his decision if he wants to put Roman over…The Man can do what he wants, when he wants

i think he will finish premeature hehhehe

Since Taker said on SD back before the new year that Wrestlemania was no longer going to define him, a loss to Roman may just be in the cards. This would be acceptable only if they feud throughout the year with a SS rematch with both being sent off to their next feud regardless of who goes over. Roman seems to be protected to an extant. I don’t think Taker will lose, but instead lose the feud altogether. Although if Taker loses at WM and goes over at SS, that can certainly give him a more interesting angle for the later year if he does indeed stick around. However, there’s always the chance that Taker just read those lines back on SD and it mean nothing more than a cheap crowd pop. In that case, we can expect WWE to poorly book this match like last year’s.

I think Vince ended The Streak at WM30 bc of the WWE Network. WM30 was the first WM and the first PPV ever to be broadcast on the then-brand new just launched WWE Network. I think when The Streak ended, everyone thought that was it for Taker so they subscribed to The Network to relive his career, well at least his fans did, those that could afford to that is.
Taker could lose every match he has from here till he retires. Won’t be a thing. Do I want him to? No, of course not! But it won’t hurt his legacy. He’s in a class all by himself. He has an undefeated streak at WM that, yes was broken, but AFTER it reached a point where no one else is going to get close to. He also has another WM record that I think has yet to be broken – most WM matches/appearances at currently 24 by my count, soon to be 25 when he competes at WM33. He’s outlasted everyone at over 25 years on top in WWE. HBK, HHH, Austin, Angle, Cena, Orton, Hogan, all the top names, all legends in their own right, haven’t been on top in WWE as long as Taker has or has performed in WWE at all as long as Taker has for whatever reasons. So in that respect, there’s another record and accomplishment by Taker.
