Quick Bio

The Undertaker is an American professional wrestler signed to WWE. He is the company's most tenured performer, and he's also the only remaining active competitor from the very first episode of WWE Raw in 1993. Calaway began his wrestling career with World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) in 1984. In 1990, Calaway signed with the World Wrestling Federation and The Undertaker was born. The rest, as they say, was history!

    Update On The Undertaker’s Future

After 27 years in the WWE, The Undertaker appeared to lay his legendary career to rest after his loss to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 33. Many fans were holding onto a glimmer of hope that Taker’s emotional walk-off into the darkness may have just been his way of saying he would never appear at another ‘Mania. WWE has only speculated on his retirement and there has been no official word from the Deadman himself.

However, a recent report from Sportskeeda reveals that when The Undertaker dropped his gloves, he not only retired from in-ring competition but was also retiring The Undertaker character altogether and does not intend to play the character again under any circumstances.

According to Sportskeeda’s sources, this means that Mark Calaway will never play The Undertaker character ever again, be it in a segment on Raw or even at the Hall of Fame, which seems awfully hard to fathom.

With Calaway letting the Undertaker finally rest … in … piece, this could allow for Mark Calaway to take on a new role with the WWE? Could we finally get a book and DVD with Mark Calaway’s involvement talking about The Undertaker character?

From the cartoon era of the 90’s to the new reality era of today, no character in wrestling has been more “protected” than The Undertaker. While other stars broke kayfabe away from the ring, The Undertaker protected the aura of his character with as much respect and revelry as he used to treat the golden urn that led him to the ring.

While the thought of never seeing hearing the gong of Taker’s entrance is disappointing, finally hearing all of Mark Calaway’s backstage stories from the most legendary career in WWE history could be worth the trade.

If that is true hopefully he can now speak about the character and himself on something like JR’s podcast, or better Stone Colds’. That would be great to hear!

    • John cena on April 21st, 2017 says:

Why?! If undertaker got retired so his match with cena in wm turn to a fable?
I cannot beleive it. The undertaker loss to reigns? He lst against a baby. Taker who defeated every one just by one tombstone. Taker that puted down every one. Taker who defeated world strongest man Henry in wm 22, defeated batista( one of the greates of all)in next year and …
Why couldnt to defeat a baby like reigns?
Actually the undertaker got to old for fighting and he has a lot of injuries, his strengths isnt enough for wrestle and he had to get retired. But i wish that his retirement match was a win. No lose!
the greates man of wwe farewell was a lose and every fans will be in this mourning. Wwe will fall without undertaker

    • John cena on April 21st, 2017 says:

But we dont have to forget smackdown episode 900 that the taker sreturn. He said :” wrestlemania 33 is no longer than define him. So it means that taker will return to wwe for at least one more match. Maybe the undertaker knowed that he will lose wm.

    • Bush on April 22nd, 2017 says:

I dont know about those who say WM 33 wasn’t Taker’s best match, or say Taker not being able to jump into Roman’s tombstone was Taker’s fault, but in this Reigns/Taker feud, I saw a glimpse of the 2006-2007 Taker (Taker’s absolute prime years)…

    • Inside scoop on April 22nd, 2017 says:

Truth is, the undertaker character has not been retired. Undertaker character will never retire. It was passed on to RR. That is the reason you saw this segment on raw. RR will appear as the new undertaker and the legacy of the dark side will carry on.

    • shasnains on April 22nd, 2017 says:

it wont be back until survivor series…………….

    • Phenom0666 on April 26th, 2017 says:

I think after all that ‘taker has done throughout his career he deserves to retire and stay retired not do a Hulk Hogan or Ric Flair but a shawn michaels no more matches… personally I really do hope that the character does NOT get passed on it spits in the face of all the fans that have followed, been loyal and loved The Undertaker and Mark Calaway… if they do pass it to Roman Reigns or anyone for that matter it will truly KILL the LEGACY AND LEGEND that is The Undertaker…the was only ever ONE TRUE DEADMAN and that was Mark Calaway as The Undertaker imo… I seriously hope all FANS of the deadman boycott WWE if they do such an insulting thing as to pass on the character

    • Inside scoop on April 27th, 2017 says:

@phenom0666 why do boycott wwe for doing so? It is the utmost respect to a legend, if you allow his legacy to carry on all over again. Nothing can undone what Mark did all these years. I scorn all those people say i will stop watch or i will boycott if they do this or that. It is entertainment and you should stop watching if you are not entertained anymore.

      Where is the undertaker ?!!
Not a single picture or any official update on him since he walked without his gloves!
Even the video where he is talking about a song is not new . It was long before wrestlermania. Butt was posted afterwards . Because if his beard color! and we all know he did colored all his hair BLACK recently for his appearnces on raw and wrestlermania And there is no way it can get back to original color in 2 days ..

Where is he!! No official statement
      No news
      No update
      Nothing !!!

Regarding the news of not seeing him ever as the undertaker.
It’s ok to me if he is retired.. and I don’t want to see him talking about his character at all . As if it was a movie or something..!!!!
      Let others talk about it

I hope all this Roman Reigns as the new Undertaker is all just talk..Nobody should, nor could replace Callaway as the Undertaker. This is a guy who made an unlikely person in real life, seem very real.Even in the early days. This was in part because Mark Callaway was actually into the same stuff as the character, which he noted in interviews and was also evident via his tattoos..Reigns would come across as phony,if he were to try and fill those shoes, because it would be.To come across as authentic,in any role, you have to align with that character on a personal level.
