Quick Bio

The Undertaker is an American professional wrestler signed to WWE. He is the company's most tenured performer, and he's also the only remaining active competitor from the very first episode of WWE Raw in 1993. Calaway began his wrestling career with World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) in 1984. In 1990, Calaway signed with the World Wrestling Federation and The Undertaker was born. The rest, as they say, was history!

The Undertaker vs John Cena, WM34? Will Happen According To The Wrestling Observer

The other top WrestleMania 34 match will see John Cena finally face off with The Undertaker. It’s believed that a big angle with Cena and Taker will be shot at the January 22nd RAW 25th Anniversary show in New York City as both Superstars will be there.

    Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

The only question I have is how WWE will effectively continue to build this match since both Taker and Cena do not appear on tv very week. Cena might as he was there for most if not all of the build to his 2 WM matches with The Rock and his No Mercy match vs Reigns for just a few examples.

I also hope this isn’t built as Taker’s Last Match or Loser Must Retire because to me that’ll make the end result predictable. Taker losing at WM, once unheard of, isn’t out of the question anymore as it’s happened twice as of this writing. I want Cena to lose. But knowing WWE, Vince, Taker’s business savvy-ness, etc, Taker maybe at even his own request will lose. Taker has a (mostly if not entirely) career history of doing what’s best for business, what’s asked of him, putting others over regardless of who won. Mick Foley in 1996 (KOTR, Summerslam) is a great example as is Kane (WM14) in 1998. There’s so many other examples though so shouldn’t be a problem to find any for those who seek evidence of this.

If this is true this would be dumb and officially destroy takers legacy. In no way should he lose to mania in a row. It’s going to be hard to top the send off of last year. I say do a rematch with Roman a triple threat with Brock and Roman or if sting can go do that match. Stings Twitter has been active lately and he’s been vocal about it again. So who knows.

Great. Another loss to his WM record. Maybe this yr is John Cena. Maybe next yr would be Jason Jordan. Then the yr after that will be to Braun.. list goes on & on. Just how many more torches does WWE thinks Undertaker should pass? Enough with Brock & Roman.

Last yr’s sendoff was perfect as it was. If that wasn’t a sign of retirement then idfk what is.. Of course, we nvr heard any official statement from WWE or Mark Callaway himself saying he’s done. If so, whats up with the hat & jacket stunt last yr? According to many IWC, he can still compete because he never says anything about retirement (eventho his actions last yr pretty much indicated so). If this is the case, then we’ll see him wrestle until WM90 probably eh? or untill he officially claim hes retired

It’s Undertaker, dude. He can do whatever the hell he wants. If he’s able to perform 1,2,3,4 or even 10 more matches, then i’ll be glad to watch& enjoy it. Even though at this age of his life, it would kinda be selfish of us. I mean come on, another match? The guy’s body is wrecked already from decades of matches. I wanna see Undertaker again but part of me also concern for his well-being. I dont want him to end up on a wheelchair or anything worst

      @Thy Serpent:

Another loss? So what? Not that I would like it but I’d rather him lose to Cena than Lesnar or even Reigns and I also believe although it’s too late for it now that his last ever match should be an opponent chosen by him who he views as the brightest future in WWE and that match is where The Streak is broken. That is if he retired at a WM. Survivor Series although not the PPV it used to be was where Taker debuted so that that’d be a fitting place for him to retire too which also means The Streak remains intact.

Taker deserves and has more than earned the right to be happy and do whatever he desires to do. But part of me feels WWE keep calling on him to come back and rely on him for star power, ticket sales, etc because he’s one of their best brands that is best for business. It’s been proven multiple times. However if Taker wanted to stop, I believe WWE would stop relying on him. WWE knows wrestlers are human beings and can’t do this forever.

If Taker does compete again and I don’t know how many he has left in him but Lawler, HHH, and Brother Love believe he has some matches left, I personally wanna see him against Jericho, Angle, Sting if he’s cleared, AJ Styles and Nakamura. Although for obvious reasons, Cena would be the biggest match WWE can do right now.

Reigns – Taker’s in much better shape and has a better hip now than the Taker we saw Reigns defeat at WM33. After Reigns’ constantly bragging about retiring Taker, Taker deserves to defeat Reigns thereby proving he did not retire him.

Bryan – If WWE clears him, would be a great match.

Samoa Joe – Considering Joe’s style, probably not the safest match for Taker. But in his late twilight part of his career, Taker thrived and survived against another unsafe opponent in Brock Lesnar. So win or lose, Taker can do the same against Joe.

Braun Strowman – I feel WWE should end the Strowman/Kane feud at WM34 by having them have a 1 on 1 match with the clean decisive finish there, but not anytime before since that event is getting closer now. If that is Kane’s retirement match and Strowman wins, it’d be a good reason to draw Taker out to initiate this build which can be furthered by Strowman saying “I retired your brother Kane. Now I’m gonna once and for all officially retire you!”

Kurt Angle – They’ve met. But not on a top PPV. WM or even Summerslam since that PPV’s gotten bigger would be a great place for probably their last 1 on 1 match against each other. No Way Out is not an active PPV anymore. But that’s their best match to date regarding PPV. It proved that they can have a WM main event worthy quality match.

Chris Jericho – They’ve never met on PPV. Jericho’s such a good storyteller in promo form but also in matches. We know what Taker’s capable of. I wish WM32 had Taker vs Jericho instead of Taker vs SHane and AJ vs Jericho though I get why they put Jericho in a match against Styles but don’t agree with it.

Shinsuke Nakamura – Nakamura’s in ring talent are really something else. His promos are the only thing lacking but that’s because his English isn’t good enough yet. He’s slowly getting there with that though. Match quality, this will be great.

Demon Balor – The closest we have to Taker vs Sting. Anyone who’s seen Balor’s pre-WWE days as well as his time in NXT knows what he’s all about. I’d enjoy this. But regular Balor won’t do it. Yes it’s the same guy, same moves, etc. But Demon Balor vs Taker is just the best direction to go.

AJ Styles – The closest we have probably to another Taker vs HBK match. The Phenom vs The Phenomenal One. Both are talented and push themselves to the limit and leave the fans going home happy. I’d attend Summerslam or WM even if this was the only match on the card! Yes it WILL BE THAT DAMN GOOD.

Sting – Dream match. Need I say more? Sting can wrestle again even though he’s retired. He said so himself. The possibility of this match is according to him why he put off surgery after and since Night of Champions @015 knowing that surgery would end his career. So this really depends on whether WWE clears him. While I want them to, I honestly don’t see it happening otherwise they would have and this match would’ve maybe already happened.

John Cena – As I stated earlier, the biggest match WWE can have right now.

I don’t know if Taker’s body can get through all these matches. I know he’ll do his best which we’ve constantly seen the results of that effort throughout his career. If I had to lessen the amount of opponents from the above list, my picks would be Angle, Jericho, Nakamura, Styles for match quality, Sting for the dream match reason, Cena because it’s the biggest match right now. 6, Taker can probably manage to work against. The man is in phenomenal shape, probably the best he’s been in since maybe 2007 or more likely so since 2015.
